Remember this old window frame?
Here it is, in its new home in our living room as a “frame” for a Scripture canvas from Hobby Lobby.

We’ve had the Scripture canvas for years and I’ve always loved it.  In our current living room, however, it’s always seemed a bit awkward.

Granted, I haven’t given the seldom-used living room much attention.  It’s sort of an extra room, and its location at the bottom of the stairs leading to the second level (where sound carries directly up to the boys’ bedrooms) makes it sort of a tricky spot for noise-producing activities.  Like conversation.  Or breathing.

Anyway, though we rarely use the living room, we do pass through it multiple times each day.  Now that other areas of the house are more finished (Will they ever be completely finished?  Is that possible?), I’ve been pondering some of the living room dilemmas.  Most of them just need a tweak.

We also have a workshop filled with all sorts of interesting items like old, wooden doors, shutters and windows.  So I’ve also been contemplating how to incorporate some of these items into our home, in ways that would provide solutions to ongoing storage and decor issues.

This project is but a small example of just that: tweaking an awkward spot in the living room by incorporating an interesting found object.  Decorating with junk, woo hoo!
